SUMMARY:Bright Spot Drug Addict Anonymous Meeting Tuesdays at 8 pm
DESCRIPTION: \nDrug Addicts Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who have recovered from addiction and are committed to helping those who still suffer. We have recovered by using the Twelve Steps as outlined in the book of Alcoholics Anonymous. \n\nDrug Addicts Anonymous is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization\, or institution\, does not engage in any controversy\, and neither endorses nor opposes any causes.  Our primary purpose is to recover from our addiction and help other addicts to achieve the same freedom.  Drug Addicts Anonymous is not dedicated to users of any one specific drug\, and use of no single drug was predominant among our members. \n\nDrug Addicts Anonymous is fully supported by voluntary contributions from its members and declines outside donations. \n\nThe Twelve Step program is a fact-finding and fact-facing process.  It requires action on the part of the addict and\, if worked properly\, will be intensive and enlightening. Newcomers may choose to be guided through the steps by experienced members of Drug Addicts Anonymous who have had deep and effective spiritual experiences as the result of working the steps themselves. \n\nOnce we were able to admit that we had been defeated by addiction\, all that was required to begin the program was willingness\, honesty\, and open-mindedness. \n\nDrug Addicts Anonymous DOES NOT: \n\n • Keep attendance records. \n • Monitor or control members. \n • Recruit or solicit members. \n • Provide detox\, rehab\, hospitalization\, medication\, or psychiatric treatment. \n • Offer religious services. \n • Dispense food\, clothing\, jobs\, money\, or other social services. \n • Provide letters of reference to parole boards\, lawyers\, or courts.

SUMMARY:Recovery Dharma
DESCRIPTION:Recovery Dharma is a Buddhist-oriented path to freedom from addiction. This is an approach to recovery that understands: “All individuals have the power and potential to free themselves from the suffering that is caused by addiction.” We feel confident in the power of the Dharma\, if applied\, to relieve suffering of all kinds\, including the suffering of addiction. This is a process that cultivates a path of awakening\, the path of recovering from the addictions and delusions that have created so much suffering in our lives and in this world.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecovery Dharma is a systematic approach to training our hearts and minds to see clearly and respond to our lives with understanding and non-harming. You are entering a way of life that may be familiar to some and foreign to others. In the beginning some of it may seem confusing or counter-instinctual\, and some of it is. But you will find that with time\, familiarity and experience\, it will all make perfect sense and will gradually become a more and more natural way of being.

SUMMARY:GRASP Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing
DESCRIPTION:Anyone who has lost a loved one through substance use knows that society treats this loss differently than a death from any other cause. There is the belief that the one who died must have somehow been a bad person. And for those of us left behind\, that we too must have somehow been a bad person. We must have been a bad parent\, a bad spouse\, a bad partner\, a bad sibling\, a bad friend\, or the person we love wouldn’t have died. But we are not bad people. The one we lost was not a bad person. There is no blame here. For them or for you. They did their best. They struggled with their disease but\, ultimately\, this disease took their life. And however you tried to save them\, you did your best. Because that’s what love does. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrief Recovery After Substance Passing (GRASP) was created to offer understanding\, compassion\, and support for those who have lost someone they love through addiction and overdose. Too many times we suffer not only the death of the person we love\, but we become isolated in our grief. We feel\, and too many times it is true\, that no one understands our pain. But at GRASP\, we do. We have suffered this same kind of loss and we have found the love and connection that only those who have lived this loss can give another. And while the pain of this loss will always be with us\, we have found through GRASP that we don’t have to walk the road that is our pain alone. We walk it together; hand in hand and heart to heart. \nCome\, join us. And become a part of the healing community that is GRASP! \n\n\nContact Lori Ritter at 205-910-0789 or loricritter@bellsouth.net for information and to pre-register
