Clinical Dharma and the MET(T)A Method with Dr Steve Dansiger

Dr. Steve played CBGB and Max’s Kansas City in the late 70s; drank, played in a toy rock band and then got sober in the 80s; became an international educator and rocker again in the 90s; and a sought after clinician and meditation teacher in the 2000s. Dr. Steve has attempted to cure Marc Maron on WTF, become a master EMDR therapist and provider of Basic Training with theInstitute for Creative Mindfulness, and with Noah Levinehelped set up the premiere Buddhist addictions rehab center, Refuge Recovery Centers. Holding an MA in Counseling Psychology and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Steve is putting finishing touches on his book Clinical Dharma (due for release October 2016), giving regular Dharma talks at Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society and with his own DharmaSpring, beginning production of two podcasts, seeing patients, and supervising and guiding young clinicians.

Refuge Recovery is a mindfulness-based addiction treatment program that utilizes Buddhist philosophy as the cornerstone of the curriculum. Participants will be introduced to Refuge Recovery as a program, and its implications for addictions treatment. Partcipants will also be introduced to Clinical Dharma, Dr. Steve’s suggested path of the 4 Noble Truths and the 8 Fold Path as a self care imperative. Finally, partcipants will be introduced to the MET(T)A, which is the Mindfulness and EMDR therapy approach utilized at Refuge Recovery centers as feaured in this year’s EMDRIA Conference in Minneapolis.
